ACL ruptures are the type of injuries often seen in persons who have had strong rotational, or torsional, forces applied to the knee joint.  As with patellar tendon disruption, ACL rupture is commonly see in trip or slip and fall type incidents as well as in pedestrian accidents.  When the femur rotates too far in either direction on the tibia, the ligaments and menisci are liable to be damaged.  Other structures can also be injured by such forces, such as the medial meniscus, and the medial collateral ligament.  These associated injuries are so common that they are often called the unhappy triad.  These are often also sports-related injuries, and they occur when a person's extended and planted limb is impacted from the posterolateral aspect of the knee.

The lawyers at McAleer Law are here to assist you if you have suffered from a knee injury caused by the carelessness of another.  Call an Alabama Personal Injury Attorney at McAleer Law - 251-341-0116.
